Manchester United’s positivity train was brought to a grinding halt on Saturday by Crystal Palace, and fans are already turning on one of their own.
After a superb start to the season, beating top-four rivals Chelsea and taking a point from a trip to big-six-killers Wolves, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side came crashing back to Earth against the Eagles.
Roy Hodgson set his side up to frustrate, and that’s exactly what they did, limiting the Red Devils to very few chances with so many players behind the ball.
Jordan Ayew then broke away and scored with the visitors’ only genuine attack of the entire first-half, leaving a monumental task for United after the break.
And it was Daniel James who eventually broke through, finishing brilliantly to level things up in the 89th minute after Marcus Rashford had missed a penalty.
The 21 year-old celebrated emphatically, sprinting to the Stretford End and pulling a Kylian Mbappe pose, before he was dragged back to the half-way line by Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Patrick van Aanholt then decided the match with a little help from David De Gea, and fans are fuming at James for celebrating like he’d just won them the game after merely equalising against a side they expect to beat.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below, look away now Dan…
Love Dan James, and it was a class finish, but why he feels the need to do this celebration when we still have time to get a goal against Palace, I’m not sure. pic.twitter.com/V9UcBMA0N3

Not a single positive today. Even Dan James’ goal was ruined by him celebrating.
It’s 1-1 at home v palace. Grab the ball ya div.

I love Dan James to bits but his celebration today makes me wonder if he has the right Mentality to be a United Player
Martial and Rashford had to stop him celebrating for longer

bobbins mentality from Daniel James with that celebration. 1-0 down at home to Palace and you’re not sprinting back to halfway? Will never make it at United

I like James, but don’t be deluded. James even celebrated that equaliser goal. He still need to learn about winning mentality as a Manchester United player.

Why did Daniel James go and celebrate when we were trailing? What kind of championship mentality is that?
