Watford boss Pearson provides updates on Sarr & Kiko ahead of Man United

Nigel Pearson has this evening provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their upcoming meeting with Manchester United.

The Hornets are set to return to action following a 2-week break this weekend, with a trip to Old Trafford.

Watford will head into proceedings in search of a bounce-back performance, on the back of a concerning spell of form of late.

With the initial spark provided by Nigel Pearson’s arrival having seemingly worn off, the Vicarage Road outfit have failed to win any of their last 5 outings across all competitions.

The latest of these came a fortnight ago, when Pearson’s men threw away an early lead to eventually slump to a 1-1 draw with Brighton.

As such, as things stand, Watford sit 19th in the Premier League table, albeit just a solitary point from safety.

‘Very positive’

As outlined above, meanwhile, ahead of what is no doubt set to prove a testing afternoon at Old Trafford in 2 days’ time, Nigel Pearson has provided a fitness update on his squad.

And, in a boost for fans of the Hornets, their side look set to welcome a key pair of performers back into the fold.

The duo in question are Ismaila Sarr and Kiko Femenia.

Speaking to the media this evening, Pearson confirmed that both sidelined stars have returned to full training:

‘We’ve had a very positive week. Sarr and Kiko are back in full training.’

Whether either Sarr or Kiko are handed starts versus Manchester United, though, remains to be seen:

‘But I suppose before the final selection for the weekend the conversation will be about managing risk because I want them back to stay back. I always have to detach myself somewhat from, ‘Let’s get the player straight back in’. It’s about making decisions that protect us over the longer term.’
