An absolutely chaotic scene has unfolded during the Ligue 1 meeting between OGC Nice and Marseille on Sunday night.
Dolberg on target
The Allianz Riviera proved the venue for the final fixture of Gameweek 3 in France’s top-flight.
Nice, on the back of a solid start to the new campaign, welcomed Marseille to the southeast coast, for a highly anticipated showdown.
The evening’s scoring was opened early in the 2nd-half, when Kasper Dolberg, no doubt still brimming with confidence on the back of his exploits with Denmark at Euro 2020, made it three goals in as many games to start out the season.
Jordan Lotomba’s surge and delivery from the right saw Dolberg break free at the front post, to nod home in style.

Payet sparks chaos
As outlined above, however, it is not the action in front of goal which has in fact stolen the headlines at the Riviera this evening.
Instead, this has come in the form of an absolutely chaotic sequence of events, which have actually resulted in the clash being suspended for the time being.
Inside the closing ten minutes, Marseille’s Dimitri Payet retrieved the ball to line up a corner kick.
As the ex-West Ham man made his way to the corner flag, though, he was struck in the head by a projectile from the home crowd.
This resulted in Payet, understandably upset with the situation, launching one of the many water bottles aimed in the direction of Marseille’s players back into the stands.
Nice’s ultras, in turn, flooded from the stands down onto the pitch, sparking an altogether harrowing scene.
Thankfully, the security presence in attendance managed to intervene, but only after kicks and punches had been thrown, with one member of the visitors’ staff having even been spotted knocking a Nice fan onto his back.
The chaos did not stop there, though, with players, staff and even coaches from both sides having gotten into it on the sideline in making their way off the pitch, too.
