“Tough decision” – Maro Itoje confirms he’s quitting rugby after the 2023 Rugby World Cup

England and Saracens lock Maro Itoje has confirmed he’s been offered a shot to join a currently unnamed NBA franchise for the 2023/24 season.

Itoje has always shown a deep interest in basketball even as a schoolboy. He played at the national level for his boarding school.

He has also gone to NBA games when they were hosted in London, most recently he was pictured outside the O2 Arena where he watched the New York Knicks go up against the Washington Wizards.

“This has been an incredibly tough decision to make,” said Itoje.
