Electro-pop definitely had its moment in the mid-aughts and The Veronicas were likely a band you consumed on your iPod nano. And to be honest, I still get hit with a wave of euphoria when I hear those first strikes of the violin of their hit âUntouchedâ.
But that was 2007, and Australian twin sisters Lisa and Jess Origliasso have been very busy since. If you havenât kept up with their work, they’ve released numerous albums, released a perfume called âUntouchedâ and even starred in their own self-titled MTV reality show.Â
The Veronicas recently dropped their electro-pop single âBiting My Tongueâ in preparation for their album to follow this year titled Human.
The music video follows Lisa and Jess and another set of twins in a star-crossed Romeo and Juliet type romance. It pairs well with the lyrics of an undying love that knows no boundaries. The music video follows the classic love story with each family despising one another but in the end, they end up together. Classic.
Lyrically, The Veronicas have not strayed from their roots. They deliver angsty yet mature lyrics and storylines that are relatable and yet still nostalgic to what we heard from them years ago.Â
The Veronicas are still very much electro-pop without sounding like theyâre stuck in the 2000s. Itâs refreshing to hear artists that still have a grasp on their own personal style without giving in to todayâs hype and yet they still sound relevant.Â
There is very much a need and an audience waiting to hear The Veronicas and I am personally eager to hear what ‘Human’ will bring to the table.Â
