Pink Floyd feature in Uncut’s Prog Rock Archive Collection magazine
online worldwide through this link (https://nme.backstreetmerch.com/artist/uncut/magazines/prog-rock-ultimate-genre-guide) is a special magazine from the makers of the UK’s respected Uncut Magazine. Prog Rock – The Ultimate Genre Guide is a blend of newly written articles, along with classic archive features, looking at the greats of the golden age of UK progressive rock. As the opening piece suggests, the period featured bands and performers retreating from the limelight, be it via elaborate stage shows, or the wearing of fox heads and make-up as a mask. This was all to give prominence to the music – and what music some of it was! Artists covered in some depth across the 124 pages include The Moody Blues, King Crimson, Yes, ELP, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Floyd’s chums The Soft Machine, and of course Pink Floyd, who are also the cover stars. The twelve-page Floyd section is in two parts. First, there’s an extensive look at the band’s music, including how they took some of the complex arrangements on the road – and how these were presented to the audiences. This section is followed by three fascinating articles from 1973 editions of the New Musical Express and Melody Maker weekly newspapers, two of which include extensive interviews with David Gilmour – giving an interesting look at his, and the band’s, thoughts and feelings at the time. There’s also a list of the 40 best UK prog albums so you can see how many are in your own collection, and maybe find titles that you’ll want to track down to explore further. Elsewhere you can find a list of some of the most collectable records of the genre, in case you are sitting on an obscure goldmine! You can pick up this magazine in larger UK stores at the moment, or via the publisher’s online store worldwide (https://nme.backstreetmerch.com/artist/uncut/magazines/prog-rock-ultimate-genre-guide).

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Roundhouse Blu-ray – NO region coding confirmed!
The announcement of Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets: Live At The Roundhouse, coming via Sony Records on April 17th, 2020 as a 2CD/DVD package, on double vinyl and on Blu-ray, has gone down very well with those who have already seen the band perform, and with those who haven't yet had the opportunity! These releases include the show in its entirety, and the video formats include some additional footage including interviews and rehearsals. The pair of Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets shows at London's Roundhouse on May 3rd and 4th were recorded with a grand total of 18(!) cameras were pressed into action on the second night. These included remotely operated cameras, and one suspended on wires which flew back and forth above the audience. The result of this expensive and challenging filming and recording exercise (cameras were positioned to minimise any impact on the audience) looks spectacular on the footage we've seen so far. This week, Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B083XWMFWG/braindamage-20) have alarmed some by noting that the Blu-ray edition won't be compatible in North America and other countries. We went direct to Sony to check this out, and we have had confirmation from them that this was an Amazon error (which Sony had Amazon correct immediately), and that the Blu-ray has NO region coding at all, so will be playable worldwide, irrespective of where you purchase it from. This is great news! For a full, early viewing of Live At The Roundhouse, there's exclusive screenings coming to cinemas in selected cities worldwide for one night only on March 10th, 2020 – details of participating cinemas can be found at NickMasonFilm.com (http://www.nickmasonfilm.com/) where tickets can also be purchased. This theatrical event will also include a pre-recorded cinema exclusive Q A with Nick Mason and the band where they will answer questions submitted by fans. ORDERING INFORMATION:You can order the various editions through the following direct links, taking advantage of Amazon's pre-order price guarantee so you will automatically pay the lowest asking price between placing your order, and release, whilst giving Brain Damage much needed help with running costs without costing you any extra. NEW MUSIC: Warahenege – Cosmic Mess
‘Cosmic Mess’ is the debut release from Manchester artist Warahenege – a deeply atmospheric, sophisticated dream-pop track that’ll leave you staring at nothing (try it for yourself). Warahenege is the project of Praveen Somarathne, who chose to use his Sri Lankan birth surname as his moniker to purvey the unapologetically personal nature of his songwriting. …
