Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett & Pink Floyd – DVD/Blu-ray/Digital
Just announced: the DVD and Blu-ray, and digital release, of Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd is coming on July 19th, 2024. The critically acclaimed – and fan acclaimed – documentary film Have You Got It Yet? is a compelling dive
into the life and genius of Syd. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and the late, acclaimed album cover designer Storm Thorgerson, the feature length documentary drew praise for its candid glimpse into the prismatic character and artistry of Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett. Released in cinemas worldwide in Summer 2023, Have You Got It Yet? achieved a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a successful theatrical run with many sold-out screenings. Intimate interviews with band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Roger Waters uncover Barrett’s ongoing impact on the group. Going a step further, the film also includes an interview with Syd’s sister, Rosemary Breen. Narrated by actor Jason Isaacs, the film also features original band managers Peter Jenner and Andrew King, as well as The Who’s Pete Townshend and Blur’s Graham Coxon. In addition to the full-length film, the joint DVD and Blu-ray set includes a plethora of bonus features. Two poignant live performances of Arnold Layne are highlighted â the first features David Gilmour David Bowie (originally released in Gilmour’s Remember That Night Live At The Royal Albert Hall, 2007). The second is a performance from 2007’s The Madcap’s Last Laugh â a tribute concert held at London’s Barbican for Syd Barrett featuring Gilmour, Mason, and Richard Wright in their
final performance as Pink Floyd. Additionally, the DVD and Blu-ray includes an interview with Bogawa and director producer commentary of the film with Bogawa, Rupert Truman, and Julius Beltrame. Further exploring his creative works, the set features discussions surrounding Barrett’s paintings, and spoken word performances of Barrett’s lyrics by comedian Noel Fielding (Dark Globe), poet Rob Fitterman (Rats) and actor Gerard Bell (Lucifer Sam). The package, designed by StormStudios, is completed with an exclusive Have You Got It Yet? poster, which was also designed by the studio. Ordering details will follow here shortly – we’ll update this story accordingly. The documentary is a fascinating and moving look at Barrett and we heartily recommend it. It’s great news that it is finally getting a physical/digital release, enabling those who are yet to see it, the opportunity.

Hipgnosis Exhibition opens in Dutch city of Groningen
The following article was kindly written by Charles Beterams, a self-confessed Pink Floyd addict and owner of FloydStuff.com (https://www.floydstuff.com), an online store stuffed full of PF goodies. Charles supplied the pictures (below) from the opening event as well. He’s also the man behind a range of excellent books about the band, with the latest book – Any Colour You Like: The Dark Side Of The Moon On Vinyl (https://www.floydstuff.com/product/8818296/pink-floyd-any-colour-you-like-the-dark-side-of-the-moon-on-vinyl) – the result of Stefano Tarquini’s lifelong quest and gathers together the 700 currently known variations of Pink Floyd’s masterpiece on record. The Groninger Museum in the northern city of Groningen has become somewhat of a centre for interesting musical exhibitions. Following on from the highly successful David Bowie exhibition and a recent one on the Rolling Stones (which will see a reprise later this year) the museum – lead by director Andreas Blühm – was nominated for hosting the Their Mortal Remains exhibition. Despite the museum’s spacious rooms the exhibit didn’t fit in terms of size and especially height. Following discussions with Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell who curated the Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains in London and subsequent cities across the globe, a plan was raised to focus on the visual side of things and create a new exhibition on Hipgnosis. The result of that can be seen (or absorbed) until 14 May in no less than eight rooms in the Mendini Pavillion of the museum. The opening event to place in the presence of Aubrey Powell, Peter Curzon and Pink Floyd’s curator Paula Webb Stainton and also attracted people like photographer Claude Vanheye who took the famous 1968 shots of the band during their visit to Amsterdam. Director Andreas Blühm introduced Aubrey Powell who discussed the hard work it was to get all those sleeves done in an pre-digital era but with enormous budgets on the other hand. With the close connection between the band and Hipgnosis showed in the large presence of Pink Floyd in the exhibition with the largest room fully dedicated to The Dark Side Of The Moon, but also highlighting Wish You Were Here, Animals and two beautiful walls with front of house and backstage photos. Other artists featured in the exhibition include Paul McCartney, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and 10CC. Both the city of Groningen and the exhibition are well worth a visit. New book reveals unseen early Pink Floyd photographs
Orders are now being taken (https://www.floydstuff.com/product/5834477/pink-floyd-the-nico-van-der-stam-archives-holland-book) for a book stuffed with incredible Pink Floyd pictures from 1967 onwards. Limited to just 1000 numbered copies (which are expected to sell quickly), Pink Floyd – The Nico van der Stam Archives, published on December 1st, 2021, is presented as a deluxe clothbound and hardback edition, with 112 heavyweight pages, and signed by the author. His images of Syd Barrettâs The Pink Floyd from 1967 are of an iconic beauty. However, few people in the Netherlands â and even less abroad â associate these photos with photographer Nico van der Stam (Rotterdam 1925 â Amsterdam 2000), who captured the band in Amsterdam in April 1967, and again two months later in London. Initially focused on documenting everyday city life and the flourishing local jazz scene, Van der Stam soon turned his lens on the emerging pop music, photographing such luminaries as Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, The Mothers Of Invention, The Doors, Cream, Janis Joplin, The Kinks, The Supremes and The Pink Floyd. He was regularly found in studios where artists were recording for radio and television. “I went to the studios, took pictures of rehearsals and recordings and then sold them to the broadcasting companies.” The few pictures of Pink Floyd that are previously published â without exception in a characteristic square format and not normally seen in colour â are just an excerpt from Van der Stam’s immense catalogue which holds over a million negatives. For this new book, Floydstuff’s Charles Beterams has taken a deep dive into Van der Stam’s archive, exploring and unearthing the photographer’s breathtaking oeuvre. An unprecedented amount of newly discovered Pink Floyd transparencies and negatives â starting with those from the aforementioned 1967 sessions of the band in all its psychedelic glory â have been catalogued, scanned and retouched for the very first time. Nico van der Stam also took pictures of Pink Floyd during their 1969 and 1970 concerts at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. By the time the band played the Rotterdam Ahoyâ in 1971, he was no longer doing concert photography himself, assigning requisite duties to his then assistant Govert de Roos, who went on to become a renowned photographer in his own right and kindly provides the foreword to this book. Most of the pictures from these three gigs are available to the public eye for the very first time. Pink Floyd â The Nico van der Stam Archives is not only a well-deserved tribute to a unique photo press agency but also an impressive and hitherto unseen insight into the legendary British bandâs defining years. Sounds like another essential purchase to us! The text in the book is in English, and you can secure your copy now through Floydstuff.com (https://www.floydstuff.com/product/5834477/pink-floyd-the-nico-van-der-stam-archives-holland-book), who will ship the book worldwide. To coincide with the publishing of the book, Maria Austria Instituut – which preserves Nico’s archives – has made three of his most iconic images available as limited art prints – one of them by Pink Floyd. They can be ordered directly from the Maria Austria Instituut (https://www.maibeeldbank.nl/mai/over-mai).
