Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets – UK/European tour moves; new UK dates

In a move that surely will not come as a surprise to any of us, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets have been forced to postpone their UK, Irish and European 2020 concerts due to the current COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic. In a statement, they have said that the safety and wellbeing of the fans, the crew and band members are of paramount importance to those involved in the Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets UK and European tour that was due to start in Guildford on April 23. Under the advice of the government due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the unilateral decision by the theatres to close at these uncertain times, we have had to postpone the UK shows until October. More information will be announced in the near future on these rescheduled shows.They add that the European leg of the tour, which was due to begin on May 18 in Brussels, has also been postponed due to most of the governments in Europe forcing a complete lockdown of public assemblies and making it impossible to continue. Any further decision on this part of the tour will be taken as the situation becomes more settled and clearer.

Polly Samson & David Gilmour – A Theatre For Dreamers book & music events moved

A month ago, a special set of three evenings featuring Polly Samson, David Gilmour and guests, to celebrate Polly's new novel A Theatre For Dreamers (latest/polly-samson-and-david-gilmour-a-theatre-for-dreamers-book-and-music-e.html) was announced. Tonight, inevitably, due to the current COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, these evenings have been rescheduled to later in the year, when hopefully the situation will be more stable.These special events will feature Polly in conversation with journalist Rosie Boycott, readings, film and live music, including a new song Yes, I Have Ghosts written by David and Polly. On his social media channels, David noted that he'll be performing a few songs, including [the] new one. The rescheduled events (dates and locations are shown below) take place in September, and all tickets are valid for the new shows; ticket holders will be sent their signed first edition of the book and the exclusive portrait of Polly Samson and David Gilmour taken on Hydra and signed by them both, in the week commencing Monday, March 30th. Happy birthday, David Gilmour!

Our very best wishes, and many happy returns, to David Gilmour who is celebrating his 74th birthday today (March 6th)! Born and raised in Cambridge, David became involved with various bands in the area, principally Jokers Wild who were a popular draw when they played, before joining Pink Floyd in 1968. More recent years have seen David concentrating on his solo career, and helping out chums on their musical projects on an ad hoc basis. Last year, some 120+ of David's guitars were auctioned, raising $21.5 million (including some record-breaking amounts for individual instruments) which went to the environmental charity ClientEarth. He also appeared as a guest performer at the Richard Thompson 70th Birthday Concert (latest/david-gilmour-guest-appearance-at-richard-thompson-70th-birthday-co.html), playing Dimming Of The Day and Fat Old Sun, and joining the encore. More recently (February 25th) he joined the stellar bill for the Mick Fleetwood Friends Celebrate The Music of Peter Green and The Early Years of Fleetwood Mac (latest/mick-fleetwood-friends-concert-box-set-available-to-orde.html) concert at London's Palladium, which is being released as a 4LP, 2CD, Blu-ray and book box set this year (latest/mick-fleetwood-friends-concert-box-set-available-to-orde.html). Just announced by Polly Samson are a set of three evenings of words and music to celebrate [her] new novel, A Theatre For Dreamers, with Polly Samson, David Gilmour and guests .This special event will feature Polly in conversation with journalist Rosie Boycott, readings, film and live music, including a new song Yes, I Have Ghosts written by David and Polly. The event description notes that The audience will be transported to the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, and a world dancing on the edge of revolution, where a circle of poets, painters, writers and musicians live tangled lives. It’s a story of utopian dreams and innocence lost, of the troubled King and Queen of Bohemia, Charmian Clift and George Johnson, of a young poet named Leonard Cohen, and his Marianne; and of Erica Hart, an 18-year-old in search of answers.
