Pink Floyd Captured Through Time paperback edition coming
Published as a hardback edition in May 2019 (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/archive/win-one-of-two-copies-of-new-book-pink-floyd-captured-through.html), Pink Floyd – Captured Through Time is being published as a paperback on September 24th, 2021. Captured Through Time is a photographic celebration of the band that takes you on a journey from the psychedelic, avant-garde sixties to recent days including off stage shots of all the band members. The publishers note that before this book, many of the photos had never been published in print before, including a sequence of shots from the Animals tour in 1977 that had only just been developed from the original negatives and digitally restored for this publication. In total, the book has over 100 images of Pink Floyd both on and off stage through the decades included in this paperback book. If you wish to order this book, you can do so through the following links; ordering (anything) through our links also helps with BD’s ongoing running costs, and we really appreciate it: Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1912782758/braindamage-21), Amazon France (https://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/1912782758/braindamageon-21), Amazon Germany (https://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/1912782758/braindamage0f-21), Amazon Spain (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/1912782758/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8 tag=braidama01-21 linkCode=as2 camp=3626 creative=24822 creativeASIN=1912782758) and Amazon Italy (https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/1912782758/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8 camp=3370 creative=24114 creativeASIN=1912782758 linkCode=as2 tag=bradamonl-21).
Pink Floyd “reinvent themselves” – German Classic Rock magazine
start of March, we noted that the UK’s edition of Classic Rock included a detailed, twelve page article written by Pink Floyd biographer Mark Blake (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/latest/pink-floyd-reinvent-themselves-in-new-issue-of-classic-rock-mag.html) taking a close look at life for the band immediately after Syd Barrett left it. The article – now translated into German for that country’s version of the magazine – investigates how the band got back on their feet following Syd’s departure, and shows how they reinvented themselves. Blake details how this came via strange, afternoon shows for school kids in the Netherlands, bizarre promo videos, unusual soundtrack albums, and shows which were rather avant-garde – as well as albums which showed the development of the band’s sound. As ever, Blake’s writing proves enlightening and entertaining, peppered with comments from the musicians themselves. Well worth a read! Elsewhere in the magazine are features on Uriah Heep, Rob Halford, UFO, Thunder, and Suzi Quatro, plus plenty of other articles to keep you busy. The magazine is now available from all good German stores; alternatively, you can buy individual issues (worldwide) from this direct link (https://classicrock.net/produkt/classic-rock-nr-98-rob-halford-bekenntnisse-des-metal-gottes-ausgabe-04-2021/). Our thanks to Michael Nickel for the information!
Pink Floyd “reinvent themselves” in new issue of Classic Rock magazine
Classic Rock magazine (cover date April 2021, issue number 286) (https://www.magazinesdirect.com/az-single-issues/6936929/classic-rock-magazine-single-issue.thtml?) is well worth tracking down. A detailed, twelve page article written by Pink Floyd biographer Mark Blake takes a close look at life for the band immediately after Syd Barrett left it. Set The Controls For The Moon investigates how the band got back on their feet following Syd’s departure, and shows how they reinvented themselves. Elsewhere in the magazine is a review of the new book, The Lyrics of Syd Barrett (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/latest/the-lyrics-of-syd-barrett-new-book-out-now.html), a large feature on Kate Bush’s (rather limited) live excursions, and an equally large interview with Vince Furnier. There’s also features on Uriah Heep, Metallica, and The Pretty Things, plus plenty of other articles to keep you busy. The magazine is now available from all good UK stores, and will be in selected outlets worldwide in due course as an import. Alternatively, you can buy individual issues (again, worldwide) from this direct link (https://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/Classic-Rock-Print-Back-Issues/).
