STATEMENT: Wasps have secured the ‘core sustainable finance’ and a stadium to play in

Wasps, a former Premiership team, have set their sights on relocating to Kent, where they plan to construct a new stadium within the county.

Following financial difficulties that led to administration, the club was relegated from the Premiership a year ago.

This prospective move would mark the fifth home for Wasps, having previously been situated in two London locales before settling in High Wycombe in 2002 and later relocating to Coventry in 2014.

Currently, the club is actively collaborating with Sevenoaks District Council to pinpoint a suitable location for their proposed stadium.

In the short term, Wasps have announced that they are on the verge of securing a new temporary venue thanks to promising funding opportunities.

They wrote: “Wasps continues its substantial efforts to return the men’s and women’s teams to the highest level possible of performance rugby.

“We can now inform you that we have secured the core Sustainable finance and a Stadium in which to play. All we are waiting for is a competition to join that will allow us to compete at the highest level – and one that shares our values,”
