Rising singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fred Brown announces the upcoming debut EP, Distraction, and releases the first single, ‘Marks Will Match’.
Having had as part of bands and now making his debut as a solo artist, Brown now carves out a new creative path. Weaving introspective lyrics with dynamic guitar work and raw, expressive vocals, Fred’s Indie sensibilities blend with an emotive folk undertone to create a heartfelt track with bursts of overdriven energy making for a track that is well worth its weight in gold.
Serving as the first glimpse into Distraction, ‘Marks Will Match’ unfolds from a hushed, intimate opening into a powerful crescendo of driving drums, expansive guitars, and rich bass tones.
Speaking on the single, he shares: “These songs—this EP—mark a turning point. It’s a moment suspended between uncertainty and realization, like staring at something inevitable in the distance. You know it’s coming, but for now, you distract yourself, push things aside, and try to enjoy the ride.”
Recorded between Goldsmith Studios and Brown’s own space, the track features Ben Leftley on drums, Joey Crouch handling bass and engineering, and Henry Arrowsmith on piano.
