Newcastle United fans were disappointed with Andy Carroll’s performance against Burnley on Saturday.
Steve Bruce’s side lost 1-0 at Turf Moor, with Chris Wood’s goal proving the difference.

Carroll, though, struggled to have a real impact on proceedings throughout the 90 minutes.
He failed to have a single shot on target, won just 37% of the aerial duels he contested and also failed to complete a dribble, per WhoScored.
And supporters were unconvinced by his display.
The sooner people realise that Andy Carroll isn’t the answer the better, makes more impact from the bench. #NUFC

Carroll has been so poor today

The truth, though, is that all of Newcastle’s strikers are struggling. Joelinton only has one, leading to fans comparing Carroll and the Brazilian, as well as laying into the other forwards at St James’ Park.
Just waiting for Carroll to get the same stick as Joelinton, he was dire today. #NUFC pic.twitter.com/LiRUN5J7GM

Gayle – Not good enough for this level
Muto – Not good enough for this level
Carroll – Still has 0 goals and shouldn't be relied upon as main man
Joelinton – Not worth 40M and should have been bought as an understudy to Rondon not thrown in as main target man— Dell ❄️ 10-3 (@agbnufc) December 14, 2019
There we have it then. Andy Carroll should not be starting for #NUFC and his value is off the bench. He also absolutely did not do a better job than joelintons been doing.

Well done guys, this happens when you trust in Carrol

Yoshinori Muto, Carroll and Dwight Gayle have all failed to break their duck in the league this term too.
It feels a little harsh, then, to single Carroll out, especially when one considers his lack of football this term.
He has made just two starts and has played just 227 minutes in 2019/20.
Meanwhile, one Newcastle ace has to step up.
