Sergio Aguero pays emotional tribute to Man City faithful ahead of exit

Sergio Agüero has released a heartfelt message to those associated with Manchester City after it was announced he would be leaving the club at the conclusion of the season, ending a ten-year stay.

During that time he has become a City legend, not least for that unforgettable stoppage-time winner against Queen’s Park Rangers on the final day of the 2011/12 season to win the club’s first ever Premier League title. He has since won further three and as well as an FA Cup, five League Cups and three Community Shields.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan’s take-over of Manchester City in 2008 ignited a new era.

Aguero was one of the club’s first big-money signings that earmarked the start of it.

Arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011, he helped the club establish itself as one of English football’s modern big-hitters.

As a result City are now Champions League regulars and reached the semi-final of the competition in the 2015/16 season.

Now, Aguero says the next regeneration are responsible for making sure the club retains its elite status.

He continued: “I was to join during the reconstruction era of 2011, and with the guidance of the owners and the contributions of many players, we earned a place among the greatest of the world.

The task to maintain this well-deserved privileged position will remain on others.”

Agüero has achieved an astonishing average of 26 goals a season while at Manchester City. Not only a City legend, he will go down as one of the Premier League greats.
