Big boost for Real Madrid and Belgium
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has suggested that Eden Hazard will play for Real Madrid again before the end of the season.
Hazard has had a torrid first season at the Bernabeu.
The Belgian left Chelsea for Los Blancos last summer in a deal reportedly worth a potential £150million.
However, Hazard hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations.
In just the 15 games Hazard has played this season, he’s only scored once and assisted four goals.
His season has also been blighted with injury, with a hamstring injury early on in the season before fracturing his foot in December.
Now, despite looking as though he could miss the remainder of the season, Roberto Martinez has suggested Hazard will play again this season.
Martinez predicts return before end of the season
Speaking to Marca this week, Belgium boss Martinez suggested Hazard will play again for Real Madrid before Euro 2020.
‘No doubt he will be playing in a Real Madrid shirt before Belgium,’ Martinez explained.
‘Deadlines make it impossible to determine the recovery because you have to see the operation first and from there determine the deadlines.
‘The first two weeks are important but knowing Eden and how he works on other small injuries he has had, we believe he will be back with Madrid (this season).;’
That would be a big boost for both Real Madrid and Belgium.
The La Liga title race remains tight and Hazard’s involvement would help during the run-in.
If Hazard was to return before the end of the season, he could also get match ready before the European Championships.
