Chelsea supporters have been told to behold a special player when Hakim Ziyech finally makes his Blues debut.
The Moroccan playmaker moved to Stamford Bridge in July from Ajax, though the £37m deal was announced back in February.
Ziyech missed out on his debut as Chelsea recorded a 3-1 win at Brighton on Monday after sustaining a knock.
However, Frank Lampard hopes to have Ziyech available to make his debut against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Blues have been the Premier League’s highest spenders this summer by some distance. Such has been their outlay, Lampard was forced to laugh on some of Jurgen Klopp’s criticisms.
Indeed, the signing of Ziyech has perhaps gone under the radar a little with Timo Werner and Kai Havert grabbing the headlines.
But pundit Rio Ferdinand is in no doubts of the qualities the former Ajax man will bring to Chelsea.
Citing a conversation he’s had with Lampard about the player, it seems the Blues will have a special talent on their hands.
“You know what I spoke to Frank the other day about Ziyech,” Ferdinand told the Five YouTube channel.
“He said: ‘His passing is ridiculous.’
“I’m looking to see them passes when he cuts with his left foot and has the likes of Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz etc all making runs. I think Ziyech will be putting it on a plate for these boys.”
Ferdinand names star Chelsea signing
With Chelsea also adding Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell to the mix, Ferdinand was asked who he thinks will prove their best signing.
And Ferdinand believes Werner, who arived for £47.5m from RB Leipzig, will soon hit top form.
“I’m going to go for Werner,” said Ferdinand. “He looked sharp against Brighton and I saw him against Spain the other day – he tore them one!”
