Richard Cockerill beats Eddie Jones to exciting new coaching role

Ex-England head coach Richard Cockerill is poised to outpace his former boss Eddie Jones in the race for the Georgia head coach role, following his surprising exit from Montpellier.

As reported by the Mail Online, Cockerill is currently in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, this weekend to finalize negotiations for taking over the reins from Levan Maisashvili as the new head honcho for the Lelos.

In addition to the talks, Cockerill is scheduled to witness the historic European Challenge Cup clash between Georgia’s domestic team, Black Lion, and English outfit Gloucester on Saturday.

While Eddie Jones had stirred interest in Georgia following his contentious departure from Australia, indications suggest he is more likely to make a return to Japan, stepping into the role vacated by Jamie Joseph.
