Southampton vs Aston Villa
Southampton will welcome Aston Villa to St Mary’s on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways.
The Saints had been playing some pretty impressive football, which saw them move clear of the relegation zone and closer to the top half of the table.
However, Southampton’s form has dipped off somewhat in recent weeks.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have now lost three of their last four league outings.
But Southampton should have a decent chance of getting back to winning ways this weekend.
Villa have won just one of their last five league ties and are only above the relegation zone by a point.
Hasenhuttl on Redmond, Boufal & Walker-Peters
Ahead of Saturday’s tie, Ralph Hasenhuttl held his pre-Aston Villa press conference on Thursday.
During the presser, the Austrian gave an update on three Southampton stars.
Southampton are set to be without the services of Nathan Redmond on Saturday with Hasenhuttl claiming the Englishman will be out for at least a month:
“Redmond is out. We still don’t know exactly how long it will be, minimum of one month.”
Hasenhuttl then gave an update on Sofiane Boufal, who picked up an injury vs Burnley last week:
“I didn’t train him this week. He is ahead of schedule but would be tough to be fit for this weekend.
“He has problems with his heel and I think it’s possible for him to start next week.”
Finally, the Southampton boss confirmed January addition Kyle Walker-Peters is out injured:
“He is injured now and is definitely out.”
