QSI could do Leeds a small favour if Alan Nixon transfer report comes true – opinion

Leeds United must have been gutted in January when Danny Rose joined Newcastle on loan.

It had been reported that Watford were ready to make a bid for the left-back, and with Tottenham wanting £20m for him, the Whites were set for a reasonable financial windfall.

Indeed, Football Insider stated that United would have received 10% of anything Rose was sold for, but it wasn’t to be as he joined Newcastle on loan.

Fortunately, the England international could still be set for a transfer in the summer.

What’s the story then?

The Sun’s Alan Nixon wrote a story over the weekend stating that PSG are scouting Danny Rose with a view to buying him in the summer.

The report also states that Newcastle are interested in signing him at the end of the season.

The left-back will be entering the final year of his contract when his initial loan spell at St James’ Park comes to an end, and United will be hoping that he really impresses over the next few months.

Fingers crossed

United would benefit more if Rose is sold for a higher fee next summer, and if we’re being honest his stock is quite low at the moment.

Indeed, his Transfermarkt valuation is the lowest it’s been since 2017, and unless he plays out of his skin at Newcastle it’s unlikely that he’ll fetch a huge price.

However, it is still possible. Rose is still a good player, being capped 29 times for England, and if any team in the world are going to pay big money for him it’s the oil-rich PSG.

Leeds fans won’t need reminding who the French side are owned by after months of rumours about a QSI takeover at Elland Road. The Qataris could be about to do the Yorkshire club an indirect favour by splashing the cash on Rose.

In other news, a Sky Sports pundit has claimed that one Leeds man is a shadow of his former self.
