Portuguese reports assure Raul Jimenez is ‘on his way’ to Manchester United

Reports stemming from more than one outlet in the Portuguese media this evening suggest that Wolves star Raul Jimenez is set to join Manchester United this summer.

Jimenez shining

Mexican hitman Jimenez has been plying his trade at Molineux for two years now.

And, after thoroughly impressing during his debut campaign in England, the 29-year-old’s production has gone on to reach even greater heights this time around.

In a hefty 53 outings across all competitions, Jimenez has racked up 26 goals and 10 assists, leading the line for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men with physical presence and, crucially, an end product.

The former Benfica man of course still also has the remainder of Wolves’ Europa League campaign to add to his stellar tally, with the West Midlands-based outfit currently locked at a goal apiece with Olympiacos ahead of the 2nd-leg of their last-16 tie.

Old Trafford bound?

As outlined above, however, while Wolves may still have the talents of Jimenez to call on for the remaining weeks of the club’s European adventure, they may not be so lucky when it comes to next season.

The central American’s stellar form at Molineux over the last couple of years has inevitably piqued the attention of some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

And, if the latest word stemming from Portugal is to be believed, then one such outfit now appear to be closing on his signature.

In news first reported by A Bola, and since backed by the highly reliable RTP, Wolves are ‘on the verge’ of striking a deal for Braga striker Paulinho.

The 27-year-old impressed en route to 25 goals this season, with a €30 million move to England now seemingly imminent.

Paulinho, though, is not expected to arrive at Molineux to complement Raul Jimenez, but rather replace him.

This comes with Wolves’ star man said to be ‘on his way’ to Manchester United.

Little further detail is provided as to Jimenez’s potential Old Trafford switch, with it seemingly now an outright assumption in Portugal that the Mexican international is set to be plying his trade in the red of the Manchester giants next season.
