Released in September 2020, ‘If My Name Were New York’ is smooth, endearing and moving single. Lori mentions being influenced by Phoebe Bridgers, Joni Mitchell and Ingrid Michealson, and this is incredibly evident in her new single. Written as an ode to a long-distance relationship that did not work out, this bare-bones piano-driven track is sincere and emotional. The raw, stripped-back nature of ‘If My Name Were New York’ enhances its simplicity and you can really feel the desperate honesty in Lori’s entrancing vocals.
