The song glides effortlessly through its radio-friendly progression, with a smooth production style underpinning Duchess‘ relaxed and intimate vocal performance, which stars as the outstanding feature throughout the tune. Biographically written, the song describes the yearning for closeness with a loved one; and at this time it comes across as seemingly a very relatable topic indeed. This is emphasised by the repeating phrase “close isn’t close enough” that lands confidently during the chorus sections of the track, and it acts as a euphoric climax to a cleverly written piece of music that will leave you wanting more.
