NEW MUSIC: Circumnavigate – Shy Love

Dream-pop outfit Circumnavigate release new lockdown single “Shy Love”, a captivating ode to unspoken fondness.

This certainly isn’t the first time Circumnavigate have appeared on the Turtle Tempo blog, nor will it be the last. The four-piece, originally hailing from Oslo and now all based in London, have been busy over lockdown, releasing single after single to quell our isolation-induced anxieties. They return with their latest offering “Shy Love”, an elegant, fairytale-like account of a blooming relationship.

The new single was written over video calls and file transfers, and eventually compiled in production by frontwoman Sigrid Zeiner, resulting in a charmingly tender sonic backdrop for an equally poignant set of lyrics. “Shy Love” is likely to pull on your heartstrings, and if you can make it through the four minutes of gentle harmonies and swirling synths without dissolving into a great puddle of tears – well, you’re a stronger person than I!

Circumnavigate’s previous single, “Layer You Up”, was hotly tipped for huge success by this very blog (amongst others), and is noted to have been placed on three of Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists and championed by the likes of Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing. It would come as no surprise if “Shy Love” were to take the band’s accolades a few steps further still, with the melodies as catchy and comforting as they are.

If you’ve fallen in not-so-shy love with this song of unspoken affection, be sure to follow Circumnavigate on their social media for news on further releases. Once you’ve had a taste of this band’s introspective and confessional storytelling, you’re likely to become addicted…
