Having come through the club’s youth system, Callum McGregor made his first-team debut for Celtic in a Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik back in July 2014.
The midfielder has never been a prolific goalscorer for either club or country, but has shown his willingness to put the team first by being one of the most versatile players in Scottish football.
The 26-year-old has played in seven different positions across his career, ranging from his favoured central midfield role, to even as an unorthodox left-back.
Despite playing in an attacking midfield position for Scotland on Friday, McGregor had a night to forget just like the rest of his teammates as his team suffered a 2-1 loss to Russia at home.
After seeing the Celtic ace’s display, Scotland fans took to Twitter to berate the 26-year-old.
Many supporters revealed that they hoped they would never see McGregor in a national team jersey again, with one fan in particular claiming he is “miles off at it international level”.
