In what was always likely to be an emotional encounter, Gary Cahill put his personal feelings to one side to deliver an immense display at the back for Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The former Chelsea man returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since being let go by the club in the summer, and despite the Eagles falling to a 2-0 defeat, the 33-year-old could most certainly hold his head up high.
As per Sofascore, the veteran blocked three shots (including one exceptional effort to deny what looked like a certain goal in the first-half), made three clearances and averaged an 86% pass accuracy.
And after seeing their ex-ace’s display against them, Chelsea fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about his display.
Many supporters of the west London side declared that their love and affection for the centre-back remained in tact, whilst a few revealed they were left stunned after witnessing him put in a monstrous performance.
