Man United & Caicedo
Recent times have seen Manchester United set their sights on emerging young talent.
The delayed summer window of course saw the Red Devils secure the services of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, both of whom are under 20 years of age.
Last month, meanwhile, it was suggested that the Manchester giants had set their sights on another starlet, in the form of 19-year-old midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo is currently plying his trade with Independiente del Valle, having made his way through the youth ranks of the Ecuadorian outfit.
He has notched 31 appearances for the club’s senior side, and was also handed his senior international debut for Ecuador in October of 2020.
Caicedo set for Brighton switch
However, since Man United’s links to Caicedo began to emerge, several other clubs have been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
It was claimed over the weekend that West Ham had opened talks to sign Caicedo:

On Monday, though, yet another Premier League outfit looks to have taken the lead in the race of the Ecuadorian.
According to Duncan Castles, Brighton are close to signing Caicedo for €5.5m. He is then reportedly likely to be loaned to Union Saint-Gilloise.
In terms of other interest in Caicedo, Castles claims Newcastle made a late push for him whilst Man United chose to step away from the pursuit after their approach in December:
