Much was made about Jean-Kevin Augustin making his first appearance in Leeds shirt on Monday as he started for the U23s against Sheffield Wednesday, but it should also be noted that Ian Poveda appeared for the first time since signing for the Yorkshire club.
The youngster came off the bench at half-time, and while he didn’t score or assist, he seemed to impress a number of supporters.
Indeed, the Elland Road faithful were quick to wax lyrical about the new man after his first appearance representing Leeds United.

To be fair, you’d expect him to look good against Sheffield Wednesday U23s as Poveda has all the pedigree needed to be a top player.
The winger has been on the books at Barcelona, Arsenal and Man City, and you don’t get that far without having a bit about you.
He’ll be hoping that he can finally break into senior football at Elland Road, and it seems as though his life in Yorkshire has started well.
A number of Whites supporters took to Twitter to praise the 19-year-old.

While Poveda’s performance was impressive on the whole, some fans believe that he needs a bit more time to learn how to play the Bielsa way after his arrival.
Indeed, these fans were happy with what they saw, but they don’t want him to be rushed into the starting XI.
Looked up for it but definitely needs more time. Lively though. #lufc

I felt that you could definitely tell that Poveda has played in the Premier League 2 & UEFA Youth League. Technically excellent just needs more time to learn & settle into the system.Could see flashes of the Helder Costa comparison from Marcelo Bielsa (a little Pablo too)👏 #lufc

Looks a level above with his ability wise. Just need to help him with his fitness and once he learns the system he will be a good player.

Meanwhile, it may be time for Marcelo Bielsa to revisit a tactic that worked very well against Arsenal.
