The PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Year nominees have been announced on Thursday, August 13th.
Liverpool dominate PFA Fans’ POTY nominations
Unsurprisingly, the six nominated players for this year’s award are largely from Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool, of course, enjoyed a historic 2019/20 campaign, which saw them notch a club-record 99 points in the league whilst clinching their first-ever Premier League title.
This led to the Reds earning three players in the aforementioned nominations list.
The players in question are Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
Mane would score 18 and assist nine in the league this past season whilst TAA and van Dijk helped Liverpool keep the tightest defence in the division.
Alexander-Arnold also broke the Premier League assist record for a defender for a second consecutive campaign, notching 13 in 38 outings.
Henderson misses out
As for Manchester City, they had Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne earn nominations, with 2019/20 seeing the Belgian match Thierry Henry’s Premier League assist record of 20.
The six-man shortlist was capped off by Jamie Vardy, who won the 2019/20 Premier League Golden Boot.

There was, however, one big name omitted from the shortlist.
That man being Jordan Henderson, who captained Liverpool in their title-winning campaign and recently won the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award.
