Liverpool allow Brewster to discuss Sheff Utd terms, with enhanced bid set to arrive

Liverpool have reportedly allowed Sheffield United to begin discussing personal terms with Rhian Brewster as they await an improved Blades bid for the striker.

United boss Chris Wilder has made clear his desire to sign a new striker. Indeed Wilder’s side, who sit 19th in the Premier League, are yet to score a goal.

Brewster has remained a top target for the Blades, who look likely to stave off interest from Crystal Palace. The 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield due to Diogo Jota’s arrival.

Previous reports suggested United have submitted a £17million offer for Brewster, but that Liverpool want more.

The Telegraph now claims though that South Yorkshire side will top that bid in an effort to get a deal over the line.

The Blades are reportedly preparing to send a £20million offer, which will match Liverpool’s valuation.

As such, the Daily Mail also says that Liverpool have now allowed Brewster and United to discuss personal terms.

United are also willing to accept Liverpool’s demand of a buy-back clause in the deal. The Reds eye Brewster as a star of the future and want first refusal if his form continues its upward spiral.

The England Under-21 international scored 11 goals in 22 games on loan at Swansea last season. Such a run guided Steve Cooper’s side to the Championship play-offs, where they ultimately fell short.

What’s more, Brewster continued his goalscoring antics with three strikes in pre-season.

The Telegraph does not state how much the buy-back clause could be worth, with previous reports touting £40million.

While Palace held initial interest in a deal, Eagles chairman Steve Parish has rubbished reports of a formal offer from his club.

Jota happy to fight with Liverpool’s front three

Diogo Jota

While Brewster remains a rising talent, Liverpool have looked elsewhere by bringing in Diogo Jota from Wolves.

The Portuguese made an immediate impact on his Reds Premier League debut, scoring against Arsenal.

He has initially been brought in to provide competition to Jurgen Klopp’s famed front three and he has said that he is happy to compete for a slice of the action.
