Lille standout
Gabriel Magalhaes joined Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer of 2017.
After moving to France, Gabriel was sent out on loan to Troyes and then to Dinamo Zagreb’s second team.
Gabriel then returned to Lille in the summer of 2018 and slowly began to work his way into the French outfit’s first-team plans.
The now 22-year-old notched up just one minute of league football for Lille in the first half of the 2018/19 campaign.
However, the Brazilian began to be afforded more chances as the season progressed. And he eventually became a pivotal member of Lille’s backline towards the end of last term, garnering 13 appearances as the club earned themselves a Champions League spot.
The 2019/20 season has seen Gabriel make 31 appearances across all competitions for Lille, including six Champions League outings.
Gabriel to Arsenal?
With the Brazil under-23 international in such good form over the last year or so, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to hear a Premier League side have been showing an interest in him.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Arsenal are monitoring the Lille standout, with a view to a summer move.
The Gunners are said to have enquired about the no-nonsense central defender in January with the report from the Sun also claiming Lille president Gerard Lopez is likely to demand almost £30m for Gabriel, who is contracted to the French side until 2023.
Now, Telefoot have asked the Lille defender if Arsenal is a possibility for him in the future, to which Gabriel responded:
“Maybe I don’t know, but I would love to play in the Premier League.”
