Leeds United’s supporters have flooded to social media on Monday evening, to single one member of the club’s squad out for special praise.
Jesse Marsch’s troops were of course back in action a short time ago.
Amid the club’s ongoing efforts to stave off relegation to the Championship, the Whites made the trip to Selhurst Park for a meeting with Crystal Palace, hopeful of making it five successive outings without defeat.
And, when all was said and done in south London, this is precisely what Leeds managed.
Though they didn’t quite manage to take all three points back to Yorkshire, a hard-fought display proved good enough for a share of the spoils, en route to a 0-0 stalemate.

Meslier hailed
Though they failed to find an all-important breakthrough in the clash, it was Crystal Palace, throughout lengthy stretches, who dominated proceedings at Selhurst Park this evening.
For Leeds, on the other hand, it proved something of a backs-to-the-wall job, one fronted in no small part by goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
The visitors’ no.1 shone across the 90 minutes, producing no fewer than seven saves to guide Marsch’s men to a point which could ultimately prove so crucial to their survival hopes.
And, as alluded to above, the club’s supporters have since been quick to make their appreciation for Meslier’s efforts clear, with the highlights from across social media showcased below:
Whatever happens.. props to Meslier. He’s kept us in this!!!

Clean sheet, a point away, 5 games unbeaten, and absolute class game from Meslier. Would’ve killed to be able to say any of those things two months ago #lufc #ALAW #MOT

Illan Meslier dropped a straight 10/10 performance tonight yet people will scapegoat him because he’s had an awful defence in front of him all season

Leeds Man of the match tonight. #lufc— Paul G (@TheGilse) April 25, 2022
Backs against the wall stuff at times, but Meslier delivered precisely what was needed; cool-headed, brave and steady hands start to finish. Still only 22 y/o – there aren’t many ‘keepers of a similar age playing regularly in Europe’s top five leagues. Tonight demonstrated why. https://t.co/FEtGcUylAZ
