Is Marcelo Bielsa set for shock Leeds United exit amid awful form?

Leeds United continue to struggle

Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United continue to occupy the wrong end of the Premier League table, and are coming off the back of an 11-1 aggregate scoreline in their last two games.

Hammered 7-0 by Manchester City, they were dismantled in the first half by Arsenal in front of a silent Elland Road as they fell to yet another defeat, leaving them five points clear of safety, but having played 3 games more than 18th placed Burnley, and two more than Watford in 17th spot.

Of course, the major caveat to all of this is that Leeds currently have one of, if not the, longest injury lists in the Premier League, which saw 15 year old Archie Gray named on the bench for the Yorkshire side against Arsenal.

The likes of Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Rodrigo, Dan James, Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk are all absent for one reason or another, which has thrown a serious spanner into Marcelo Bielsa’s tactical plans.

Will Bielsa depart?

Well, according to Football Insider, potentially.

In a report published on Tuesday morning, they claim that:

“A United source has told Football Insider that Bielsa “won’t be at Leeds next season” amid a growing acceptance among the club’s senior figures that his fourth campaign will be his last.

He could even leave in January, should results not improve:

“The source added that Leeds will look to bring in a new manager if their fears of getting sucked into a relegation battle intensify.”

It would be an unpopular decision, with Bielsa’s name ringing around Elland Road even at 4-1 down from the Leeds fans, who recognise the massive contribution he has made to the club and who have murals of the Argentine across the city.

However, Bielsa could make up their mind for them.

Would Leeds do better without the Argentine?
