Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has his heart set on acquiring the services of Lazio’s midfield genius Sergej Milinković-Savić in January, a report claims.
The Nerazzurri have undergone a veritable squad transformation under new head honcho Antonio Conte this past summer, with a host of big names both entering and leaving the San Siro doors.
Renowned superstars the likes of Radja Nainggolan, Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic have all departed the club on loan, while the latter two have been replaced from Manchester United’s ranks in the form of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.
Inter and Man Utd have frequently shared the headlines with their transfer activity in previous months and a recent report from Italian outlet CalcioMercato.com (via ESPN) has ensured more column inches will be shared.
The report (via TuttoSport) claims that ‘Marotta dreams of two specific signings at the San Siro’ with one being ‘Lazio’s Sergey Milinkovic Savic.’
Milinkovic-Savic had been perennially linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past two years, with his talents perhaps being lined up to provide a like for like replacement had Paul Pogba departed for pastures new.
The move never materialised, however, and the Serbian moved quickly to declare that he had never wanted to join the Red Devils in the first place.
The other name on Beppe Morata’s wishlist is Fiorentina’s talismanic frontman Federico Chiesa.
