An insight into the ruthless manner of Ronald Koeman’s FC Barcelona dismissal has been forthcoming online on Thursday.
Change at the helm
Developments at the Camp Nou have of course proven a major talking point across the globe over the last 24 hours.
This comes after the Blaugrana hierarchy finally came to the long-awaited decision to call time on the aforementioned Koeman’s stint on the club’s bench.
On the back of a 1-0 La Liga defeat at the hands of minnows Rayo Vallecano, it was confirmed late on Wednesday night that the Dutchman had been sent on his way, courtesy of an announcement across Barca’s social media platforms:
FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first team coach. The president of the club, Joan Laporta, informed him of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva.
FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career.

Koeman’s harsh treatment
Attentions amongst the Barcelona fanbase, in turn, have since swiftly turned away from their now ex-boss, and towards the man widely expected to replace Koeman on the bench in Catalunya – Xavi Hernandez.
As outlined above, though, even those of a Blaugrana persuasion who had long called for the head of the Dutchman would likely find it difficult to justify the ruthless nature in which he was informed of his dismissal.
That’s if the latest reports in the media are anything to go by, anyway.
As per The Mirror’s David Maddock, Koeman was not even afforded the duration of Barca’s flight home from Madrid on Wednesday, before being moved on.
This comes after a bizarre sequence of events on the club’s private plane.
President Joan Laporta is understood to have called the Blaugrana directors present on their post-Vallecano flight into a meeting, just rows away from where Koeman was seated.
The ensuing conversation caused Laporta to ‘snap’, culminating in Koeman being informed that he would no longer be required, before the flight had even touched down in Catalunya.
