In latest single “I Will”, Bertie Newman’s voice is a treat for the soul

Hackney native Bertie Newman debuted in 2021 with his single “Lost”, building up a significant amount of buzz since then with following track releases “Tired of Love” and “Seaside Eyes”. His music leans into the atmospheric side of the singer-songwriter style, with noteworthy influences from indie-folk and indie-pop – the young artist cites Bon Iver, Hozier and Gregory Alan Isakov as some of his favourites. Newman’s new song “I Will” immediately sets the tone for the year with the bright and breezy sounds that capitalises on the wonderful intertwining of the singer’s serene pop voice and the reverbed guitar notes. It’s a a stunning merge of swaying rhythms, ethereal production, gliding melodies, but most impressive are Newman’s vocals. His emotive, effortlessly cool and always heartfelt and honest delivery creates moments of magic and a true sense that you’re listening to someone pour their heart and soul into their art.

“‘I Will’ explores the shift of my past pre conceptions and associations with particular objects, places and people to how I feel now. I wanted to show the change in my mental state by making an ultimately happy and hopeful song, sound somber, just as I once felt.” – Bertie Newman
