Kyle Sinckler’s future at Harlequins is now extremely doubtful after coach Paul Gustard revealed the club would struggle to meet his financial demands.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is set for huge offers from Bristol and Gloucester following an incredible World Cup with England.
‘The important thing is we have got to try and find a level that is satisfactory for the club and the player,’ Gustard told the Mail Online.

‘I would love to pay every single player what they want. It is very hard to do that. There is a salary cap. We would love to keep Kyle. Negotiations with his agent are always ongoing.
‘I have got one bit of cloth and I have got to cut it 45-50 ways. That’s all I can do. I can’t do anything else. I would love to keep Kyle. It is ongoing. That’s all I can say.
‘He is a brilliant player, he’s a Harlequin, he’s come through the pathway and become an England international and British & Irish Lion through this club. Of course we would love to keep him. We’re aware of the rumours and we’ll try to negotiate.’
