Darren Bent has today revealed his opinion that Manchester United are the most likely landing spot for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish this summer.
Fernandes shining
The 2019/20 campaign has seen speculation rife that Premier League giants Manchester United are on the lookout for attack-minded midfield reinforcements.
The first-half of the season saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men consistently struggle to link midfield to attack, as the sidelined Paul Pogba’s absence was sorely felt.
Ed Woodward and co., though, to their credit, moved to rectify this issue during the winter transfer window.
On the back of weeks of speculation, it was finally confirmed late in January that highly sought after Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes had made the move to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old’s impact, meanwhile, has since been immediate.
Fernandes has directly contributed to 7 goals in his 9 outings thus far, with it already evident the type of long-overdue spark set to be introduced to United’s midfield by his arrival.
‘United at the top’
Despite the vast improvement seen in the Red Devils’ ranks in the middle of the park on the back of Fernandes’ addition, though, reports have continued to circulate, insisting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen on adding another attacking midfielder to his squad this summer.
Chief among the rumoured list of targets of the Manchester giants, to this point, have been James Maddison and Jack Grealish.
And, as outlined above, one individual who feels as though the latter of these stars could well be poised for an Old Trafford switch in the near future is Darren Bent.
Speaking in an interview with Football Insider earlier today, former Aston Villa star Bent was questioned on Grealish’s future, specifically on which club he feels are best positioned to land the 24-year-old.
And Bent went on to reveal his opinion that while Manchester City and Tottenham are both in with a shout of luring Villa’s captain away, it is Manchester United who Grealish has ‘got his eye on’:
‘I would say probably Manchester United, Manchester City, and potentially maybe Spurs.’
‘I think they’re the three that are looking at him, and he’s eyeing them thinking ‘I’d like to go to one of them’.’
‘I’d probably put Man United at the very, very top of that. If that doesn’t happen and Villa go down, you never know, but for me, he’s got his eye on them.’
