“Former Army Rugby Star” Newcastle Falcons Loan Out Wing to Championship Club Doncaster Knights

Doncaster Knights have confirmed the arrival of Aloisi Vereimi (Aloisio Vereimi Namuatabu Qorowale) on loan from Newcastle Falcons. The Fijian wing arrives at Castle Park with immediate effect, in what is Vereimi’s fourth stint with Doncaster.

The 28-year-old has also achieved a series of caps for the British Army, and has recently featured in the Army v Navy matches, in the Inter-Services competition at Twickenham Stadium. Vereimi served as a rifleman in the 2nd Battalion, and also achieved caps within the Army Rugby Union Sevens team. Weighing at 105kg and standing at 6ft 1, Vereimi packs a punch when carrying into contact, and possess a powerful first step to evade defenders.

Known as ‘Imi’ in the North East, the wing signed for Newcastle Falcons in 2022, and made his first team debut at Welford Road against Leicester Tigers. Doncaster Knight Director of Rugby Steve Bowden was delighted to have ‘Imi’ back in the fold, as his side is currently struggling with multiple injuries across the back-line.

“Obviously with Harry Davey being out with a shoulder injury and Connor Edwards also out with a shoulder injury, AJ Cant is still out with a return to play, were a little bit light in the back line. Imi is a guy we have worked with in the past, he fit in really well with our boys and the club and I think he really enjoyed his time when he came on loan, so it was an obvious opportunity to work together again and hopefully he can get in some rugby in the near future.”
