Everton’s Bernard is unhappy with life under Carlo Ancelotti and is looking to leave the club in the next transfer window, according to reports.
The winger has been a regular in Ancelotti’s line-ups since he took over in December, playing in eight of his 11 games in charge so far, both scoring and assisting once in that time.
However, he found himself dropped to the bench in two of the Toffees’ last three games and was hooked at half time in their last game before football was suspended due to the coronavirus, a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 8th March.
And a report on Sport Witness says that the Brazilian is ‘having difficulty’ on Merseyside and is hoping to leave the club when the transfer window reopens with a move to AS Roma on the cards.
Last week it was suggested that the 27-year-old had been ‘proposed’ to the Serie A club, who are currently managed by Paulo Fonseca who Bernard played under at his previous club Shakhtar Donetsk.
Bernard scored 17 goals and set up a further 11 in 66 games under Fonesca, a run of from which earned him a move to Goodison in the summer of 2018.
He hasn’t managed to recapture that form in the Premier League, though, scoring just five goals in 58 appearances and it now seems that he is ready to move on after less than two years.
The report goes on to suggest that the player has a ‘desire’ to reunite with his former boss, while Roma view Bernard as the replacement for on-loan Arsenal forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan who has made just 20 appearances this term due to injury.
Any deal could cost the Italian side between €18-20million, but no direct approach has yet been made and it is unclear whether Everton would be prepared to sell.
Although, making a sizable profit could prove to be appealing to the Blues, who signed the Belo Horizonte-born attacker on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, the Toffees have received a boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez with the Colombian looking increasingly likely to depart the Spanish giants.
