Everton look to improve their fortunes with the major coup of Dejan Kulusevski, with the Swede a massive upgrade for the Toffees in one department.
Everton are keen to turn things around in the second half of the season. Indeed, they have struggled of late, having won just one of their last 14 Premier League games.
The Toffees’ poor form has seen them fall to the precarious position of 16th. What’s more, they are now just four points above the drop zone.
Rafa Benitez suffered the consequences of Everton’s dire form, getting the sack following the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Norwich City in mid January.
The Spaniard did sign Vitaliy Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson and Anwar El Ghazi before being shown the door. Despite the lack of a permanent manager, it seems the Toffees are keen on making further squad improvements.
Italian journalist Roman Agresti, quoted by Football Fancast, claims Everton are in the market for Kulusevski, from Juventus.
“Everton made a more concrete survey for Kulusevski. But Juventus did not receive any offers,” he said.
While Everton are keen on the Swede – who would be a major upgrade on Alex Iwobi – there is a major stumbling block in place.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham were reported to be interested in Kulusevski recently, and were told only a ‘monumental fee’ would see him leave Juve.
That is due to an injury to star winger Federico Chiesa, which left him needing surgery. Kulusevski will deputise for for the Italian, so the Old Lady will not entertain small offers.
Dele Alli signing more likely than Kulusevski
Everton are also interested in Tottenham ace Dele Alli. The star has fallen out of favour at Spurs, and will likely move on in January.
The Toffees are among a number of Prem clubs keen on giving Alli the opportunity to revive his career.
At just 25, Alli will have a lot of time to try pick himself up at a new club.
Everton seems as good a place as any, as he would likely be given regular minutes, something he has massively struggled for at Tottenham.
