Euro Paper Talk: Triple deal on for Man Utd with Brazilian defender heading €75m coup; Arteta closes on Barcelona star

Manchester United are planning to sign a new defender, a midfielder and an attacker in a triple coup, while Arsenal are closing on the surprise signing of a Barcelona star, according to Monday’s Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD PLOT THREE -MAN TRANSFER COUP

Manchester United are reportedly closing on three quickfire additions this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his squad.

The Red Devils secured Champions League qualification on Sunday after a 2-0 win at Leicester and following a great run of form.

Now Solskjaer plans to improve his squad ahead of their return to the top table of European football – and Ed Woodward has quickly got to work.

As per Foot Mercato, United are prepared to hijack Napoli’s €30m move for Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Brazilian defender was set to move to the Serie A side as part of a double €80m raid that included Victor Osimhen. But United are said said to have matched Lille’s €30m asking price in a bid to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was keen on Inter’s Milan Skriniar. But their determination not to sell for less than €75m has put United off – and a swoop for Gabriel makes far more sense.

While only their Plan B, it’s claimed Solskjaer sees the Sao Paulo born star as the perfect partner to Harry Maguire.

Reports in Spain, meanwhile, claim United are also rumoured to be on the verge of clinching a deal for James Rodriguez.

The Colombian has been linked with United for some time, but looks finally set to leave Real Madrid after a disappointing season.

He has featured in just eight LaLiga games this season and recently hit out at Zinedine Zidane’s broken promises.

Available for just €25m, the Colombian would be a big upgrade on Jesse Lingard, who looks likely to move on for a similar fee.

MARCUS EDWARDS LINKED TO UNITED

United are also in for young English forward Marcus Edwards, who plays for Vitoria Guimaraes.

Edwards started at Tottenham, but moved to Portugal last summer for a nominal fee.

The sale was, however, sweetened by Spurs who negotiated a 50% fee of any future transfer.

After scoring eight times in 33 games, O Jogo claims the 21-year-old has been the subject of a €20m offer from United.

Deals for all three, should they come off, will set United back €75m, but will offer their squad serious depth.
