Manchester United have been set a tempting price for a target, who now has a move to Old Trafford as his top focus, while Marco Asensio has been offered to Liverpool and Chelsea are chasing a France defender, according to Monday’s Euro Paper Talk.
ERIKSEN PRICE TAG SET FOR MAN UTD
Christian Eriksen is ready to push for a January move to Manchester United after deciding he wants out at Inter Milan.
Eriksen left Tottenham for the Serie A side in January 2020, six months before his contract was due to expire. However, he has not been able to replicate the form he once showed in the Premier League.
He has not completed 90 minutes in Serie A this season and appears to have struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte’s system.
As such, Calciomercato now reports that Eriksen has been cleared to leave the San Siro in January.
As per the report, United have learned a fee of €30m can secure the signing of the former Spurs favourite. However, such is Inter’s desire to move Eriksen on, they are open to negotiation over the midfielder.
Furthermore, it’s now claimed Eriksen has set his heart on a move to United, having been linked with them in the past.
The player is reportedly of interest to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who will push United bosses to sanction the Dane’s signing.
Indeed, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta, meanwhile, has suggested a sale could be on the cards.
He told Sky Sport Italia: “The important term is ‘functional’.
“Football is full of these situations, where players are signed who are then not functional to the tactical system or team he is placed into.
“We signed Eriksen in January for €20m and an excellent bargain on the transfer market, a great opportunity. But naturally the coach has to make his evaluations and has the right to choose his line-up.
Inter looking to make most of market
“If we reach January and the player does not play regularly, so asks to be sold, we will deal with the situation and do so without the slightest bit of controversy.
“Naturally, we always try to improve and make the most of opportunities on the transfer market. But the problem is finding players who fit the team and genuinely would improve us.
“This was an operation on the transfer market that was positive, but simply not fully functional to the technical and tactical vision.”
Inter plan to use funds generated from the sale of Eriksen to pursue a deal for PSG’s Angel Di Maria. The Argentine winger is out of contract in June and could leave for a decent fee himself when the January window opens.
