Newcastle Falcons centre Johnny Williams has revealed he’s undergoing treatment for testicular cancer.
Proving to be a regular line-breaker and try-scorer during his debut season for the Falcons in 2018-19, Williams went on to represent England in their victory over the Barbarians in May 2019, scoring a try in the Twickenham clash.
In an emotional Instagram post, he wrote: “I’ve recently faced a slight bump in the road after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.
“This came as a huge surprise and out of nowhere but these things always do and there’s no preparing for it. Today I have finished my last batch of chemotherapy and the road is about to get easier from here.
“My girlfriend Hannah, family, friends, team mates, coaches have been extremely supportive in these circumstances and I can’t thank any of them enough.

“Lads, please make sure you don’t make the same mistake I did. Regularly check your balls and if you find anything out of the ordinary, swelling or firmness be sure to get checked out by your GP straight away.”
Predominantly an inside centre but with the ability to play outside centre, Williams won the Junior World Championship with England Under-20s in 2016 after previously representing his country at Under-18s and 17s levels.
RUCK would like to send or best wished to Johnny and his family!
