Eight wild rugby nights out: Buggy gate, dwarf tossing and the Calcutta Cup


Former England stars through the decades have all been involved in drunken escapades after having a few too many on a night out.

Rugby stars of yesteryear was famed for its drinking culture, which allowed many renegade characters to thrive in the game.

But even in today’s uber-professional era, there are still plenty of instances of players pushing their luck a bit too far.

1.  Greig Laidlaw & Finn Russell

After going a decade without lifting the Calcutta Cup and having to endure a long spell of England dominance, it was finally time to party in Scotland following their Six Nations victory at Murrayfield in February 2018.

2. England vs dwarves, 2011

Current Captain Mike Tindall was leading his country into battle at the 2011 Rugby World Cup but still had time to play a part in the ‘Mad Midget Weekender’ along with a number of other squad memnull
