Manchester United lucky to get a point
In what was probably Newcastle’s best, and Manchester United’s worst performance of the season, Ralf Rangnick’s side were lucky to escape with a point.
Outfought, outplayed and outworked up and down the pitch, Newcastle opened the scoring should have been out of sight by the time Edinson Cavani turned home an equaliser, seeing David De Gea make a series of incredible save wihle Allan Saint-Maximin somehow missed from just 4 yards out when well placed.
Worse than dropping two points, however, Newcastle also suffered on the injury front.
Newcastle dealt injury blow
Despite the positive performance and point, Newcastle were dealt a pair of injury issues as star duo Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson were both forced off during the clash with the Red Devils.
Eddie Howe was somewhat downbeat on the situation, however, revealing that he was fearing the worst for Wilson in particular.
“Callum’s injury doesn’t look good,”, the Newcastle boss said.
“The way he went down, I feared the worst for him. Allan, I don’t think is as serious, but serious enough to bring him off. We’re stretched.”
He went on to suggest that it could be months, rather than weeks, on the sideline for the Englishman, with the Daily Mail reporting that he has suffered from a torn calf muscle, which will surely see them move for a striker in January.

Will they be able to find one as reliable as Wilson in front of goal, or will they need to spread the responsibility across multiple additions? The January window is becoming increasingly important for them to get right as they look to fight for Premier League survival.
