“Down In One” French President Macron Downs Beer with Toulouse Players After Top 14 Triumph

French President Emmanuel Macron paid a visit to the Toulouse changing room, after their triumphant Top 14 Final success over La Rochelle. Macron joined in the post-match celebrations, with a video of him downing a bottle of beer in one going viral on social media.

The 45-year-old is an avid rugby fan, and is often seen cheering on the national side. Macron joined in the celebrations after Toulouse recorded a dramatic 29-26 victory, thanks to the last-ditch efforts of Romain Ntamack’s ‘wonder-try’.

With three minutes left to play, Toulouse were trailing 22-26. The French fly half cut through Ronan O’Gara’s side, and wrapped up a stunning solo effort from 60m out. Toulouse extend their record of Top 14 league triumphs to 22 in their complete history, and denied La Rochelle the opportunity to lift the silverware for the first time.

La Rochelle had ambitious of an illustrious league and European cup double, after they retained the Heineken Champions Cup over Leinster last month.
