Charlton slumped to their fifth match without a win as their visit to Deepdale ended in a 2-1 win to Preston.
Since a 3-2 victory on Boxing Day against Bristol City the Addicks have faltered a little in front of goal with four strikes in the five games, and they may need some added investment from the new owners if they are to stave off the threat of relegation.
To make matters worse, they took the lead against Preston early on before a goal either side of half-time allowed the hosts to turn the game around, and it was a former player who came back to haunt Charlton.

Patrick Bauer climbed highest to head his side in front and take the points away from his former side, an aspect of his play Charlton supporters became accustomed to during his time at the Valley.

The German spent four years in south-east London and should be remembered fondly for several years to come because of his winning goal at Wembley in last year’s League One play-off final.
It should, therefore, not be too hard for Charlton fans to forgive him despite his latest goal, with some fans particularly satisfied with the fact that he didn’t celebrate.
Are you a Championship expert? How much did each of these big-money signings cost?
Some believe that was a nice display of respect and class from the centre-back, as he could have shown real passion since it is a goal which takes the Lilywhites closer to the play-off places.

Classy from BFG would of been better if he didn’t score at all 🤷♂️
