The chatter surrounding a potential return to Stamford Bridge for the Belgian had since subsided in the weeks following this news.
Lukaku himself even came out and confirmed he would be staying with the Italian champions back in June:
“Yes, I am staying. I feel good at Inter.”
However, reports began to emerge on Monday claiming that Chelsea had not get given up hope of signing the forward this summer.
Chelsea to make fresh bid for Lukaku
And on Tuesday, we have seen a whole host of fresh updates emerge throughout the day.
First up, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Inter turned down an offer from Chelsea which was believed to be 100 million euros plus Marcos Alonso:
Chelsea formal bid for Romelu Lukaku has been confirmed by CFC sources too. €100m guaranteed and Marcos Alonso, turned down as Inter want to keep Lukaku. #CFC
Inter expect Chelsea to try again for Lukaku. He’s currently under contract until 2024 – €7.5m net per season.

Then, later in the day, the Telegraph reported that Inter want around 100 million pounds to sell their top-scorer from the 2020/21 campaign:

And now, late on Tuesday evening, the aforementioned Romano is back with another update.
Romano reports that Chelsea are preparing a new bid to sign Lukaku, which is expected to be around 120-130 million euros.
And if the above report from the Telegraph proves true, this should be enough to convince the Nerazzurri to part with Lukaku as 120 million euros roughly converts to just over 100 million pounds – the figure the Telegraph claim Inter would sell Lukaku for.
Chelsea are preparing a new bid to sign Romelu Lukaku. Proposal expected around €120/130m after opening bid turned down by Inter [€100m + Marcos Alonso involved in the deal]. #CFC
Chelsea are also offering Lukaku a long term contract for €12m net per season as salary.
