Chelsea make loan offer for Edinson Cavani but he wants Atletico Madrid

Cavani to Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea have reportedly made a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, but he still wants a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan striker has been the talk of the transfer window so far.

During the window, he’s been linked with a whole host of clubs.

Atletico Madrid have been the side most prominently linked, but Cavani has also been linked with several Premier League clubs.

It was reported earlier in the month that Manchester United and Chelsea could move for him.

There was then a report that suggested Arsenal had tabled an offer for Cavani.

Even Tottenham were linked recently.

However, it’s Chelsea’s interest that looks to have survived until now.

It was suggested recently that Cavani’s wages were holding up a move to Stamford Bridge.

Now, a new report suggests a loan move is on the cards.

Chelsea make loan move for Uruguayan striker

According to the Times, Chelsea have now tabled a loan offer for Edinson Cavani.

They claim: ‘Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to recruit a striker by making an offer to sign Edinson Cavani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season.’

It’s suggested that Chelsea want to pay a loan fee, then pay Cavani’s £360,000 a week wages until his contract expires in June.

That deal could total £12.7million for his wages an expected loan fee of £5million.

There is a stumbling block, however.

According to the Times’ report, Paris Saint-Germain have ‘indicated’ that they want to sell Cavani outright.

It’s suggested they want to sell him for as much as £23million, despite the player only having just over four months left on his contract.

Cavani still wants Atletico Madrid

Despite a reported move from Chelsea, Edinson Cavani still wants to sign for Atletico Madrid.

As quoted by the Guardian, Cavani’s Dad has suggested the players favoured destination is Madrid.

“I think there is a strong chance he will go to Atlético,” he explained.

“If tomorrow, if he is available and Atlético still want him, I think he will sign.”
