“Been poor” – Stephen Warnock rips into £63m-rated Liverpool ace vs Chelsea

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock criticised Fabinho on Twitter during the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The Brazil international started in the FA Cup tie at Stamford Bridge having kept his spot in the XI following the 3-0 loss against Watford at the weekend, but played a major role in the opening goal for the Blues.

The 26-year-old, rated at £63m by Transfermarkt, was caught in possession in the centre of the pitch just outside of the penalty area, before Willian fired at goal and Adrian was unable to keep the ball out of the net.

It was a really poor goal for Jurgen Klopp’s men to give away and Warnock, who made 67 outings for the Merseyside outfit, was clearly left unimpressed with the South American both in this clash, and since he returned from injury in January.

He tweeted: “Really feel for @pedrochb97 tonight! Should be playing in the holding role and would probably be doing a better job than Fabinho who has been poor since coming back into the team.”

No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?

Indeed, Pedro Chirivella would surely have felt hard done by not to be on the team-sheet in the capital, given he played the full 90 minutes in their previous three FA Cup ties – he had to settle for a spot on the substitutes’ bench.

Fabinho went on to be booked on the hour-mark after bringing down Mason Mount just outside of the penalty area.

In other Liverpool news, Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to sell one Reds player he only recently backed this summer
