Bayern Munich reach agreement with Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho heading to the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the loan signing of Philippe Coutinho, who missed the clash with Athletic Bilbao on Friday.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou after a poor start to his La Liga career.

Since leaving Liverpool for Barcelona, Coutinho has featured 76 times for the Blaugrana, scoring 21 goals and assisting 11.

Those struggles have seen Coutinho linked with a move to several clubs, including a selection of Premier League outfits.

Tottenham were supposedly interested in a loan move, but were rejected by the player.

Paris Saint-Germain were also linked, with suggestions Coutinho could be included in a deal that would see Neymar return to Barcelona.

However, Coutinho now looks to be on his way to Bayern Munich.

“There’s an agreement in principle in the case of Coutinho’s loan [to Bayern]”

That’s because official Barcelona spokesman Guillermo Amor has confirmed an agreement in principle has been reached between Bayern and Barcelona.

Speaking to Movistar+, as cited by the Mirror, Amor revealed: “I can confirm that there’s an agreement in principle in the case of Coutinho’s loan [to Bayern].”

Coutinho was also left out of the squad to face Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening, instead watching from the stands.

While Amor didn’t give any details away, some other outlets have filtered through some information.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Coutinho refused to be part of any deal for Neymar, which would have seen him join Paris Saint-Germain.
